The
Apostolate of the Suffering (AOS)
in the USA
New enrollement requirements
The Apostolate of the Suffering (AOS) is a Private
Diocesan Association in the Diocese of Springfield, Massachusetts and is the
National Coordinating Center within the International Confederation. (The
Confederation has the official approval of the Pontifical Council for the Laity).
Under the Confederation guidelines, an annual enrollment
is required for an active membership.
Enrollment as an "active member" in the Apostolate of
the Suffering provides the following benefits:
1. OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE A PLENARY INDULGENCE.
The Holy See has granted a Plenary Indulgence for all members of our association,
without distinction between types of membership.
The indulgence is granted under the usual conditions (provided upon your request
for information or enrollment).
2. RECEIVE THE "ANCHOR" NEWSLETTER AND OTHER MAILINGS.
3. REMEMBERED IN THE DAILY PRAYERS AND WORKS OF MEMBERS
OF THE APOSTOLATE, INCLUDING THE PRIEST, BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF THE SILENT
WORKERS OF THE CROSS.
4. SUBMISSION OF NAMES TO BE ENTERED AND REMEMBERED IN A
DAILY MASS BY THE PRIEST OF THE SILENT WORKERS OF THE CROSS.
5. RECEIVE AN OFFICIAL MEMBERSHIP CARD.
To become an "active member" of the AOS requires a
signed enrollment request.
Each individual must seek their own enrollment into the Apostolate. This is to
ensure each individual personally desires membership.
